Anne Frank Essay: In the midst of World War ll, a very awful period of time occured, the Holocaust, this event caused thousands of jewish people to lose their lives. Among this anarchy, a young lady named Anne Frank, held a very optimistic outlook on this life in hiding. “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” In some cases, I would think this quote is true. But in the context of our play, I would go against Anne quote. Probably the main reason why I think this is, the actions of a certain character named Mr. Van Daan. this character decided because he was a little hungry, STOLE the food supply from the others! I also see how people disagree with me and my choices, so I acknowledge the actions of another …show more content…
Van Daan. He does some pretty nasty things in the play, but I think his worst work is when he steals bread for his own selfish appetite. On page 121, the following dialogue takes place:
Dussel: … You dirty thief- … -stealing food- you good-for-nothing…
Mrs. Frank: The bread! He was stealing the bread.
Dussel: It was you, and all the time we thought it was the rats.
What really catches me is the last line from Dussel. He thought that the rats were eating the food. But no. It was Mr. Van Daan, STEALING! He was acting so greedy, that he would rather eat for himself, and let all the kids starve. He doesn’t care about the others. Mr. Van Daan would take from all the others because he was a little hungry. EVERYONE was hungry! And did they steal, NO! I also realize that not everyone was a bad person at heart. Take for example Peter Van Daan. At the beginning of the play, he was not the nicest to Anne. But over time, he became a better person. The following dialogue takes place on page 105: Peter: … Well, any time you want to let off steam, you can come into my room. Anne: … I can get up an awful lot of steam. You’ll have to be careful how you say

When Anne Frank says that, “Everything she does is right, ,and everything I do is wrong!” I think as a result of Margot being a goody-two-shoe because she doesn’t obtain in trouble and she is beloved by her mother, reasons why she is always right. I think that Anne Frank feels like everyone is against her like she doesn’t belong there, again since her saying the word “goat” describes how she thinks that she doesn’t belong in the Secret Annex with her friends and family. I also think that she feels like everyone won’t accept her, even though she tries so much, by her saying that, “You’re all against me!” meaning that everyone in the Secret Annex won’t accept or are against…

Not understanding her mother’s wishes, Anne mistakes her mother’s intensions. Rather than thinking of her family’s safety, Anne selfishly thinks of herself. “I was so damn mad after her letter, I felt like taking the NAACP convention to Centreville” (Moody 284). She acted like the typical defiant teenager, or a three-year-old, deliberately disobeying her parents. Moody thought that her mother’s reason to keep her in the house when she returned home was because Moody did not come home often; and so her mother wanted to spend as much time with her.…

Anne Frank, a Jewish teenager who was forced to go into hiding during the Holocaust, once said, “If we bear all this suffering and if there are still Jews left, when it is over, then Jews, instead of being doomed, will be held up as an example.” (goodreads.com). This quote shows how Jews will forever be displayed as an example for their immense strength and bravery. Anne Frank, along with the other survivors of the Holocaust, had some source of motivation to make it out of such a horrific event. In the memoir Night by Elie Wiesel and the film Life is Beautiful directed by Roberto Benigni, they show many examples of how in the worst circumstances, there was only one thing that gave people strength to keep going, family.…

I believe Abigail Williams, one of the main character from The Crucible, is a form of villain. First of all, she accused innocent people of taking part in witchcraft. For example, Abigail Williams accused Elizabeth (Goody) Proctor of witchcraft in order to gain her husband’s attention. “You drank a charm to kill John Proctor’s wife! You drank a charm to kill Goody Proctor!”…

Hypocrisy can be discovered in most of the characters in this play. Take the judges for example, they condemn others of crimes they have not committed, when they are the ones with evil intentions. Many of the accusers are just looking for payback to people they hold grudges against. Some accusers just want other people’s land and are willing to do anything to get that land. Judge Danforth condemns innocent people of witchcraft just because Abigail and her friends say they have seen certain people with the devil.…

Polly leaned against a wall and observed her surroundings thoughtfully. The house, whose owner she was only slightly acquainted with, was occupied by an energetic party. Everywhere she looked, a different social interaction seemed to be occurring. Two girl friends were engaging in a ditzy dance to the swing music playing, couples were kissing or whispering in each other’s ears and alcoholic drinks were being exchanged amongst every party attendant. The odor of cigarettes and alcohol would have been overpowering to anybody not used to the scent, but it was just a familiar aroma to Polly.…
