During the two years Anne Frank and her family were in hiding from the Nazis, the world was falling apart. War separated the world, innocent people were being killed and tortured every day. While these people were hiding from the Nazi’s, their comfort, their home, almost everything they were was stripped away as they were forced to hide from the soldiers who wanted to kill them for committing the crime of being who they were. While legally, we, as people, have mostly equal rights, there are still massive steps that have yet to be taken. Just this past summer, same-sex marriage was declared legal in all 50 states. While this is a great thing, people are still not treated as equals for reasons such as their sexuality, race, gender, etc. People are still hurt, killed, and kicked out of their homes for committing the same crime Anne Frank did. Being themselves. According to PBS, nearly 2,000 transgender people have been murdered since 1970, and the number keeps getting higher. For some people who don’t conform to society’s norms, the conditions are better than they are better than they were even 20 years ago. However, for others things are getting worse. As people, we are advancing every day, but for some people, life is only getting worse. Some people are living in constant fear of being beaten or murdered, or choose to take their own lives because the conditions they are living in are so terrible, just because they are transgender. But at the end of my life, when I’m reflecting on the world, I hope to look back and see change. I hope to see less hate, and more love. And I wish that when I look back I’ll be able to say that I helped to make the world a better place, and I intend to start now. “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”

Lizzie Borden was accused of the murder of her father and step mother Andrew and Abby Borden with a hatchet. Despite these accusations, though, Lizzie Andrew Borden did not commit the murders of her father Andrew Borden and step mother Abby Borden. I think she did not commit the murders because: there was no physical evidence linking her to the murders, Lizzie cared for her father deeply, despite the disputed, as been portrayed as cold, but showed a sensitive, grieving side of her in her letters, and she told her neighbor the day before her parents’ murders that she feared that someone was going to kill father.
