She's hoping that her family can be happy once again and not have to be concerned about walking outside and getting killed. When she said this, it showed that Anne is humble and brave.
Anne perceives that more goes into individuals than what you can observe from the outside. "In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart", this quote leaves a permanent footprint on who she was. Even though all the Germans went around killing her race, for Anne to say this is so brave. I could never even think about saying that people are good at heart if they're going around killing people. In the end, I learned that it's better to view things as positively as you can and to never give up
