Anne Frank Courage

Could you live in a small space with eight people and eat rotting food for two years ? Anne Frank did she lived in Amsterdam, The Netherlands during one of the darkest times in human history. In other words, the holocaust this is when the leader of Germany (Adolf Hitler) made the decision to discriminate against all Jews this led to the second world war. Anne hid throughout most of the war with her family. She spent most of her time writing in her personal journal where she would record her thoughts and feeling about the situation and the people she was around. Anne would dream of going outside and playing with her friends or going back to school. She spent in upwards of two years there it was cramped on had an infestation of rats and mice Anne never complained about the awful living conditions that she had to face every day. Anne often told herself things that would cheer her up, she would say things like "I can shake off anything as long as I write" (Goodrich and Hackett). Anne's family could not go outside the grocery store and go get food they had to have help. A young Dutch woman by the name of Miep Gies gave up her own ration book so that the frank family could have a simple meal. The food was no five star dining it was often rotting food. Although, Anne has always been grateful just to have a simple potato or a slice of bread. Anne could not go outside and release her energy that she has been building up throughout the day, so she would dance and play games with her family to make the most of the situation that she was in. Another quote and said was "I can think myself out" What she would mean by this is if I can't go outside of this annex then I will use my imagination to leave it and go run around using my mind. Hanukkah is a very special time for Jews the family gathers around a menorah and tells everyone what they're thankful for. Her journal is one of the most read books ever it has been translated into over 70 different languages and counting. Her journal will teach future generations about the holocaust and what life was like every day living in fear that you could wake up and be taken away to a dreadful concentration camp at any time. Unfortunately, for Anne Frank she could never she her journal be publicest. As Anne contrast a very deadly disease and died only two weeks before her concentration camp, she was at was liberated and lost power two weeks later. Anne was also a very influential person and can be relevant to our daily lives, we should reflect on Anne example and be kind to everyone.
