To begin with, she has a conflict with herself because she feels guilty. She feels guilty because she is sleeping in her warm bed while people are being killed and beat outside. She states in her writing,” I feel wicked sleeping in this warm bed, while my friends are being beat…”(Frank 54). Next, she has a conflict. This causes her to feel depressed and brings back memories. Next, she has a conflict when Mrs. Van DAan criticizing=es her and she feels like being a whole other person. She states,” Honestly, you needn't think that it is easy to be the badly brought up figure of a hypercritical family…”(Frank 56). This makes her feel like a nobody and it makes her feel depressed. Lastly, she has a conflict in which she is driven to be a whole different person. She is driven by Mrs. VAn DAan strong and powerful words towards her. She states, “ Then I fall asleep with the stupid feeling of wanting to be someone else…”( Frank 56).
In conclusion, Anne faces many conflicts that influence her happiness and frustration. Also, it affects her self-esteem. Even though conflict is a small part of being in hiding, it influences everything and everybody. This shows us that there were many struggles during the Holocaust especially towards the Jews. Most jews, like Anne, were very optimistic during the Holocaust. In the end, we learned that all Jews had to be extremely optimistic to push through those hard
