Anne Bonny was born with the last name of Cormac on March 3, 1698, in Kinsale, Ireland. She was the daughter of Mary Brennan and William Cormac. Brennan worked for Mr. Cormac and his wife. Cormac and Brennan had an affair which led to the birth of Anne Cormac. She later became known as Anne Bonny. When she was born, they dressed her up as a boy and pretended that she belonged to one of their relatives, so that nobody would know that he had her with his maid. Bonny had beautiful red hair and everybody thought that she was so very pretty.

When Bonny’s dad told people that the baby was his and that he had had her with his maid, people started to talk bad about them. When his ex-wife found out, she told everyone, which made Cormac’s law practice fall apart. So he then decided to take his daughter and her mom to America to live in Charlestown, Carolina. He dressed Bonny as a boy so she would get better work. Not long after they arrived

She then found out she was pregnant with his baby, but the crew still did not know that she was a woman. Rackam insisted that she needed to be dropped off in Cuba until she had given birth, and that he would return to get her after the child was born and she found another home for the baby. While he was away, Bonny had gotten terribly ill. The baby did not live because she had gotten so sick. When Rackam returned, he and Bonny went back to Providence. They then realized that James Bonny was still there and they were accused for the crimes they had committed while they were away. They realized they had to leave the island right away, and decided to take Mary Read, who was on the ship before, and dressed as a man as well, along with them when they went to sea.
