My name, Jenna Lee Wood, is a traditional Southern double name that comes from my mother's side of the family. After a brief interview with my mom, I learned that my first name comes from the 1980's soap opera, "Dallas". My parents loved the name Jenna from the start and knew that if I was a girl, I would definitely be named Jenna. The diction in “That a maiden there lived whom you may know” (line 3) serves to give the poem a fairytale like feeling and again portray Annabel as fairy-like and famous, thus making her seem unreal. Also, in “This maiden she lived with no other thought than to love and be loved by me” (lines 5-6) Annabel Lee serves as a symbol of impossible pure beauty and love. Like in the Raven, the speaker speaks a lot about a woman but still the reader knows nothing about her. She is the reason that Poe has wrote the poem and is the main focus of the whole poem. Poe never really gives us any details about Annabel Lee herself; she doesn’t talk and we don’t really know what she looks like so this allows the reader to characterize Annabel Lee however they see fit. Also, this could be the poet’s way of showing that she is perfect in his eyes and is made of pure beauty. Annabel Lee is first mentioned in line 4 when the poet refers to her as a “maiden,” which almost makes her sound like fairy tale character. He mentions Annabel Lee again in lines 25-26 saying.…
