There are numerous types of conflicts, but two will be brought up here. One is external and the other is internal. Internal conflicts take place in the mind, however, external conflicts are triggered by outside forces. The conflict in the “Melting Pot” is external, however, “Seventh Grade” is internal. In the story “Melting pot” there is an external conflict between Anna Quindlen and the rest of the neighborhood. This plot is external because the different cultures are arguing about how issues should be carried out around the town.
