Ann Arbor Ice Rink: A Short Story

Improved Essays
I was in the 6th grade, my friend Michael and I were going to the Ann Arbor Ice Rink. Michael had short brown hair combed to the left. Michael had been wanting to learn how to skate for a long time, so today was the day I was going to teach him.
¨Are you ready to learn how to skate¨
¨I am worried that I will fall and break something¨.
¨Don´t worry you will be fine¨”.
¨Even if you do fall, you will not break anything, hopefully¨.
¨What¨!
We got to the ice rink. Michael and I put on our skates and went into the rink. ¨If you are having trouble moving then go to the left corner and get the walkers¨.
¨I don't think that I can make it over there without falling over and breaking every bone in my body¨.
¨Then just suck it up¨.

“Well you are going to try anyways”. Michael and I went to the side of the ice rink.
“Are you ready to skate without the walker”? “Yep I am ready to go”! “Ok, in 3,2,1 go”! Michael was skating without the walker. Michael was taking his time around the rink. Then boom! Michael crashed down on the floor, hitting his face hard onto the ice. I rush over asking if he was alright.
“Michael are you ok”?

“Does it look like I am ok”! Michaels face was all bloody. All the blood from his chin went to his head and looked like Michael had been stabbed. I rushed over to Michael's mom who say the whole thing. She bolted over with a terrified look on her face I she had just seen a ghost. “What happen Drew”? “He was trying to skate without the walker and then he fell”. My mom picked me and Michael was driven to the ER.
The next day I walked over to Michael's house to see if he was fine. I rang the doorbell. “Hey Drew, Michael is fine, he just had to get stitches”. “I will send him out” “Ok”. Michael walked out the door.
“Hey Drew what do you want to do”
“what do you mean you just got stitches, what are you talking about”? Michael lifted up his chin. There were 3 stitches across his chin.
“Did it

As I stared across the bullet-torn battlefield I wondered how I ended up here; hiding behind a crumbling wall, clutching my gun as though it were a lifeline.
