A Character Analysis: What Makes A Good Animated Characters

Improved Essays
As a young boy, like a lot of kids in my generation, I woke up every saturday and sunday morning to watch cartoons and anime until my mom told me to go play outdoors. Even on the school days I would come back home to finish my homework and watch cartoons. Animated characters fueled me as an energetic child and taught me morals that are impossible to forget. A good animated character would always have a set of features that made me feel like they were real and made them look so awesome.
The most prominent feature, in my opinion, of animated characters, is an unrelenting passion or trait that sets them apart. One of the clearest examples of this would be Sanji from One Piece. Sanji was raised by fiery and violent chefs in a restaurant who

Chopper from One Piece plays a very significant role. He is a doctor on a ship of pirates that are constantly getting terribly injured. With his crew mates constantly putting their lives on the line, he is the one that must clean up after them. Coming back to Tom and Jerry, Tom plays (in my opinion) the most significant role in the show. Tom is the starter of everything, everytime there is a mouse, he will chase it. Tom can change the whole show with the decisions he makes because without a cat chasing the mouse, there is no Tom and Jerry. Speaking of controlling the show, Luffy (the main protagonist from One Piece) is literally the captain of his crew. Despite being one of the silliest and seemingly stupidest characters, he is a great leader. His crew moves where ever he moves and he makes the big decisions. A significant role is just one of the things that is absolutely necessary that a good character should …show more content…
A lot of characters in animated shows become redundant and plain to their own personality. An example of someone who isn't redundant or plain is Mr.2 from One Piece (I promise this is the last One Piece character). Mr.2, also known as Bon Clay, Is a fabulous man who just loves skipping back and forth playing games. But Mr.2 will adapt to the situation when they are in danger. Even though he is a silly character, he reacts as a normal human would and should react. A character that somebody could say is the exact opposite of Mr.2 is Killua from Hunter x Hunter. Killua started the show off as a dark and scary mysterious kid, but after meeting the protagonist Gon, he showed his colors. He is in reality very friendly to those that he cares about, but changes as his situation adjusts. Now if there is anyone who gives the feeling that they are a real, reactive, adaptable person, it is Goku from the Dragon Ball series. Goku is the most innocent and quite frankly stupid character in the series, but being the protagonist, he deals with many ups and downs. Goku can change to the most serious and proud individual in an instant. Viewers feel as though they personally know him when they watch the show. Adaptability is fundamental for any character to feel

Reaction Paper - The Things They Carried - Tim O’Brien “The Things They Carried” is interesting in the fact that it is a collection of short stories as opposed to a single story. I think this is interesting because most war stories I have read focus on a single thought, usually a moral, that holds strong throughout the reading. When reading this I felt that the reason why he chose to write a collection of stories was because there were many things he wanted to express, not just one overarching idea. While I did note a common theme of disapproval towards war in many of the stories, I feel that this was not what he was writing about, but rather something that was present in the stories, like the war itself. I found many of the characters held important roles in each of the stories they appeared in, most of whom I could relate to, such as Kiowa.…

Lion King Character Analysis Archetypes have been around for hundreds of years leaving their mark on every story created by mankind, even today archetypes still leave their mark on stories, like the movie The Lion King. In the movie The Lion King, directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, most of the characters presented from the movie fall into the one or more of the seven main character archetypes. From the hero to the trickster, there is no lack of archetypes in the Lion King. For example the characters Scar, Timon and Pumbaa, and Zazu fall into the archetypes, the dark power hungry Shadow figure , the wise Mentor, and the story starting Herald.…

Strong, intricate characters are the very basis of every successful story or novel. I recently read a book titled Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, and I think it is an exceptional example of a fantasy book. The book is about a young boy named Jacob Portman who is fascinated by stories that his grandfather (Abe Portman) would tell him at such a young age. Later on, when he grows older, Jacob assumes that all the stories that his grandfather told him must be fiction. But later when a horrific tragedy occurs and Abe Portman dies, Jacob questions what to believe. To reassure himself, Jacob persuades his parents and makes them visit the island his grandfather always talked about in his stories.…
