Animal life is just like humans, we both breathe oxygen, we both love excitement, and we both can love unconditionally. As the saying goes, “A dog is a mans best friend”. But, scientists have yet to figure out how to use animals in a safe way to prevent harm. Many animals have been killed unconsciously. Not many people think of the harm done when the testing goes on. Some scientist have stated that “there is no need to grant animals all normal human rights” which is going against any living things natural rights. If humans are given natural rights, why can’t animals have natural rights too? The Declaration of Independence of the United States lists life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as natural rights. Animals have life because they breathe like humans do. All living things have liberty because humans and animals alike want freedom. Animals like to run around and be free so theres there liberty. Animals show the pursuit of happiness because they like to be happy and live life. Taking them in as science experiments takes away their liberty and pursuit of happiness. Maybe one day technology will have advanced so far as to render animal testing unnecessary, which would be ideal, but that day is simply not today. However we must not be wanton or ruthless in our testing of animals, just as animal test subjects are necessary so are the ethical and moral policies that regulate animal testing. Scientific advancement should never rely on what is blatantly cruel and scientists should always strive to do as little harm or cause as little distress as possible to their test subjects. Animal testing can lead to great advancements in medical technology and it is our job to make sure that we take the comfort and well being of the animals being tested into account. After all, to anthropomorphize for a moment, isn’t that the least we can do for the beings who are helping us treat all the diseases we are susceptible…

As stated by Professor Charles R Magel,“Ask the experimenters why they test on animals and the answer is: ‘Because animals are like us’. Ask the experimenters why it is morally okay to experiment on animals and the answer is ‘Because the animals are not like us’. Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction” (Source #4). Scientists believe that animals are more similar to us in body anatomy and biology than personality. However, they’re more like us human in a sense of consciousness rather than body.…

After studying multiple views on animal testing I have come to realize my personal view has now changed since the start of my research. Before undergoing heavy study into animal testing I believed that all types of animal testing should be stopped, but now I believe that the idea is very beneficial and should only be done when the rights of the animal are considered. In the coming years, hopefully, more regulations can be passed to ensure that all animal’s lives are protected during experimentation. Although most animals are treated with care and no pain is dealt to them when undergoing testing, it would be a lie if I stated no animals are harmed during the process. Animal testing is extremely useful in developing life-saving drugs and medicine.…
