Animal Violence Persuasive Speech

In today’s world, violence is increasing. Whether it be about race, or species, it needs to be stopped. As of 2015, 776 people have been killed by police in the United States, where only 161 of them have been unarmed. Also in 2015, a thirteen year old lion was brutally hunted and murdered. This death of a lion, has had more publicity than the 161 murders of unarmed black men and women. This shows the type of society we live in, where an animal has more outrage than a human. When a black person is killed, they are called “criminals, animals, etc.” by the world. When a white dentist kills an endangered lion, he is referred by his title of doctor, or his profession as a dentist. Gruen is discussing the murders of Samuel Dubose, Cecil the Lion, and Sandra Bland. Two of these people are African Americans who were brutally murdered by the police. I didn’t hear of Samuel Dubose’s murder until this article. That shows how little coverage these deaths receive. I didn’t hear …show more content…
“Human outsiders were ruled not to be really human at all”. This gives us a great example on the protestors for Black Lives Matter. News Reports and police see these people as not human. They treat them like animals, trying to lock them in a jail cell and take away their rights. They are treated like some other species that hasn’t been domesticated when really, they’re humans and know how to live on their own. Another example being from Khan’s Orientalism, “Racial superiority requires racial distinction, separating various peoples into discrete ethnic groups.” Khan then goes on to describe how the size of skulls go in to determining a person’s ethnicity. The smaller the skull, the dumber the person. They claimed that white Europeans had the biggest skulls because they were smarter and more powerful while anyone from Native’s, Africans, and Asians had smaller skulls that also determined their

These men are all Black Americans and was targeted due to suspicions. This eventually led to riots and protests, but does not seem to solve the problem: police brutality. Eventually, Copwatch, the documentary found ways to solve police brutality by filming the police. Revealing the perspective of the narrator once he has been removed from the story by a number of years shows that for oppressed Black communities, it is naive and unwarranted to belief in concepts such as righteousness. The rhetorical situation and context my paragraph responds to regards the difficulty of establishing an appropriate penalty for cases of animal cruelty. This paragraph will be my first paragraph, discussing how scientists have indicated that individuals who commit cases of animal cruelty are often perceived to suffer from a mental disorder (Wilson and Norris, 2003). Consequently due to the perpetrator’s inability to think rationally, sentences applied for these cases may be reduced and this in turn, has caused many perpetrators to become repeat offenders and also become violent towards humans. This notion will be explored by researching multiple sources that all utilize a variety of rhetorical devices such as literary devices and rhetorical…

Since its beginnings, the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, as a decentralized, international activist movement, has been largely misunderstood in the public’s eye mainly due to the media’s distorted portrayal of the BLM movement as well as due to the movement’s inability to control its narrative and perception in the world. Since February of 2012, the nation’s African-American community has been in a state of upheaval over the tireless and numerous killings of unarmed African-Americans at the hands of the police. While racialized policing is not a new concept to the black communities, these particular events – such as the killings of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Freddie Gray, and Sandra Bland, to name a few – received massive media coverage…

When you are going into the fridge to find something to eat or drink, do you think about where the food or drink comes from? I highly doubt it; if you were to think about it, I would bet most of the products in your fridge have some type of dairy cow product in it. That is why it is so important to have research on dairy cows due to how important they are for human health. Without dairy cows I believe that humans would not have thrived as long as we have due to how many products dairy cows are associated with today. German researchers recently discovered a relatively new genetic disease called HCD in 2015, and they believe that the first ever bull being a carrier of this genetic defect dates back to 1991 to a bull called Maughlin Storm (Mock,…

Police brutality and racism seem to be consistently connected to one another. This has become a serious issue in which circumstances have ended violently or even fatally when involving police officers and African American citizens. In 2014, the United States Census Bureau reported that African American people make up only 13.2% of our population. Anyone can become a victim of police brutality, regardless of their race; but statistics show that African American people are being killed by police at more than twice the rate of Caucasian and Hispanic people. It is also considerably more likely for the African American victims in these situations to have been unarmed at their time of death.…
