Veterinary Professional Practice PART A: Communication and Consultation Skills Consultations tended to be initiated with a friendly, semi- casual greeting. This allowed clients to feel at ease with the veterinarian, as it would come across as less intimidating for them than being addressed in an overly rigid, formal manner. It is a way to establish a rapport with the client early on, and indicates that the consultation has a more relationship focused nature as opposed to a slightly condescending paternalistic approach. This demonstrates to the clients from the beginning that they will be respected and their concerns heard (R. Shaw, 2006).…

If one were to ask a young girl want she wants to be when she grows up, she would proudly say a princess, or maybe a rock star. I’ve never been the typical girl though and my answer was always different. Some days I wanted to be a dog trainer or a zookeeper and being a marine biologist wouldn’t be too bad. In middle school I realized what all these jobs had in common; animals. I knew whole heartedly that I wanted to work with them, to improve not only their health and welfare, but also that of the community they were in.…

In all of my years of public schooling, I have never written about one subject for so many times. With the past few drafts, I realized that zoology is slightly more complex than what people would imagine. As you would expect with zoology, people study the structure, habits, and evolution of all animals, both non-living and living. Animal-related careers, whether it is a zookeeper or a researcher, may seem simple, but a person needs key traits such as extreme patience, passion, and alertness. I honestly believe that patience is possibly the most important aspect when working with animals.…

In the world today, people cannot do without animals because they have become an essential part of human existence to both vegetarians and meat eaters. Some animals serve as pet, and some serve as food, and others are used for sports and laboratory experiments. Although some animal activist advocates for animal rights, there are limits to that right because animals cannot be equal with human. They don’t have the intellectual ability that humans have to take responsibilities and control what happens around them. These animals are important in the society and the need to treat them with respect is paramount.…
