Animal Trainers Research Paper

Have you ever seen a perfectly trained animal and asked yourself how in the world did this animal get to know all of these fancy tricks and commands without an animal trainer? Animal Trainers help people teach animals essential skills they will need to know, and how to fight different battles as an adult. They train animals to do the right things like having better behavior and manners. The work involves a lot of physical labor, being patient, and helping provide for animals like feeding, watering, grooming, bathing, and even teaching them exercises that will help them become a better and safer animal for someone to have and love.

About 82 percent of these workers were nonfarm animal caretakers, and only 18 percent were animal trainers. Many work at kennels, others work at zoos, stables, animal shelters, pet stores, veterinary clinics, and even aquariums. Although most animal care workers or trainers consider the work enjoyable and rewarding, the work may be unpleasant and emotionally distressing at times. For example, those who work in shelters may see abused, injured, or sick animals and don’t know how to handle it. Injuries and illnesses are one of the main issues any animal care person might see. When any animal care person working with sacred or aggressive animals, there is a higher chance of being bitten, scratched, or even kicked by a horse. Also injuries may happen while the caretaker is holding, cleaning, or even restraining an animal. Work schedules are all around the clock, but most schedules are operated on a twenty four hour basis. Most caretakers work irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and even possibly holidays. For most animal caretakers they check to if the animal has good nutrition which is considered to have a special diet to help maintain good health and good condition. Another thing they check and look for is dentition which is hard for animals, but mainly horses to meet nutritional requirements as they age. Metabolic disorders are really easy to pick out because you can mainly tell if they have a disorder like this because they lead to unhealthy obesity. One rare thing animal caretakers might see is lameness and it occurs when an animal begins to have signs of arthritis and end up becoming sick or unhealthy. (Crabbe 69-89) With lameness since it is so rare, a really bad infection can pop up called a canker, but it's more rare with horses and can even cause you to lose you animal you truly and dearly
