Animals should not be used in scientific experimentation because it is unethical. The vast majority of the animals in a laboratory are put through painful procedures in the name of medicine. According to Animal Testing,“researchers subject rodents to burns, electric shocks, or other painful experiences in order to examine how similar traumas could affects humans. Other animals are intentionally given diseases so that scientists can test and devise effective treatments.” Scientists subject defenseless animals through experiences that are in humane such as burns and shocks. These findings show that animals should not be used for experimentation because animals are being harmed. The process in finding a cure for that particular disease is complex and over long periods of time, considering many animals will die because a cure was not found in time. Animal experimentation is cruel because animals are often treated as objects and manipulated to the researcher’s convenience (Source 3). That in itself is concerning and unethical as it is evident that scientists hold no respect for the life they hold in their hands as they work towards achieving a medical breakthrough.
