Animal testing has been going on for years; since 384 BC. Animal testing was invented to see if specific chemicals and some cosmetics irritate the skin. Any animal can be used to be tested on but what scientists prefer are rats. Rats and humans share some of the same genes, but that’s about all we have in common.
One reason to not test on animals is that they could soon go extinct. If animals go extinct then we wouldn’t have anymore resources. We, as humans, wouldn’t have any more meat, clothing, and some specific dairy needs. “Without worms, beetles and other animal detritivores it would be difficult, if not impossible to maintain soil condition to grow crops. In addition, hand pollination is laborious and …show more content…
There has been many breakthroughs that have been discovered from testing on animals. We test on animals to save human lives. If we die, we don’t have anyone to lean back on to re-create our population if we go extinct. If animals go extinct, we start to breed them so that they can repopulate; animals repopulate faster than humans. “The animal tests provide data on efficacy and safety. They not only identify potential safety concerns, but also determine the doses which will be given to volunteers and patients during the first human trials.Testing on animals also serves to protect consumers, workers and the environment from the harmful effects of chemicals,” (www.animalresearch.info). Without animal testing, we would definitely not be as advanced and our population would most-likely decrease on and
