Pat Van Dyke, a school teacher was watching her eight year old daughter undergo hip surgery. Mary was born with twenty two different handicaps, some being; a heart defect, spina bifida, and a tethered spinal cord. He watched from the hospital as about fifty animal rights demonstrators protesting baboon-to-baby heart transplant. An insulin-controlled diabetic saw this, and described it as very upsetting, and wanted to make her case public, she said “If it wasn’t for researchers injecting a dog with insulin sixty years ago I wouldn’t have insulin therapy, and my life would have ended nine in a half years ago, six months after I was diagnosed.” Van Dyke continues, she says that her daughter's life has been so improved by the surgical techniques

We need it to grow forward in medical research. Millions of animals each year are killed due to animal testing, but millions of animals each day are killed, murdered, abused for clothes, food, decoration, and even sport. This is not killing an animal for a good burger, or a nice pair or shoes, this saves lives. Animal testing has saved many lives of many living breathing human beings, that would not have been able to be saved if these animal tests did not exist. Estimately twenty six million animals are used every year in these testing. I can see why people would want to fight to save these animals, but I also believe that these people do not know all the good that these test do and the amount of lives these test have saved, or improved. With that being said millions of humans every year are able to live another day because of these animals. As awful as pain to any living thing is, these animals are sacrificing to provide humans with the medical research, and resources that we need. Some kill animals for sport, these animals are justified they are being able to help humans through medicine. More than 200 million animals each year die due to hunting, this is over two times the number of animals pass due to medical research, not even counting the millions of injured animals that have suffered major injuries due to
