Between Life and Death

“The time will come when man such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look upon the murder of men.”~Leonardo Da Vinci

Animal testing a heartless display of inhumane humans all around the world. The money and the use of animal testing mostly goes towards cosmetic use which is a trivial reason. There are alternative reasons as well making animal cruelty even more pointless. Along with alternatives, animals have no voicel. They can’t stand up for themselves making the malice even worse. Animal testing is used for multiple reasons. Most of these reasons make no sense and have no relevantness to what the scientists are researching.

Animal testing is used not only for medical research but also for cosmetics and teaching. Though for these uses there are alternatives that can wipe out animal testing. “There are many non-animal test methods that can be used in place of tests on animals. Not only are these non-animal tests more humane, they also have potential to be cheaper, faster, and more relevant to humans.” (Animal Testing). Using animals when there is other methods in place of that form of testing, is pointless. This quote shows that there are alternative ways to test cosmetics and other things instead of killing animals. “Organs on chips”. This device mocks the roles of human organs. This is a way to test medicines and other medical research instead of using animal bodies. “The chips can be used instead of animals in disease research, and drug responses more accurately than crude animal experts do.” (Alternatives). This is another example to medical testing that can be used in place of animals. The device is also more effective than animal testing. Along with an alternative to medical and cosmetic research, students also need something else for them to study with. “Strikingly lifelike computerized human patient simulators that breathe, bleed, convulsed, talk, and even ‘die’ have been shown to teach students physically and pharmacology better than crude exercises that involve cutting up animals.” (Alternative). This is a great example of alternatives to animal testing. Instead using animals to represent human patients, these simulators give the students a better feel to what they will be working with. With no purpose to test animals, why is it really

One alternative is to use human tissues instead of animals, for testing and cosmetics. If products are being made for humans, it would be best to use the primary source it is being used for. " Humans and animals differ too much to make animal research useful” (James-Enger, 1998:1) If this alternative goes in place and is successful it will decrease the millions of animals being killed or injured for the research each year. If this method can be mastered, it will be the best alternative for animal testing. If scientist can use human tissues to develop test models, they will be able to collect more accurate data; which will allow them to produce safer medicines and cosmetic products.…

There are many alternatives to animal testing and excuses need to stop being made to keep animal testing in business. It may seem like it is the only option, but there are so many new ways to do the exact same test in ways which do not involve animals at all. It is cruel and inhumane to keep animals in small cages and not only physically, but also mentally harm them. Artist Leonardo Da Vinci once said, “The time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men.” The time for animals to be treated similarly to humans can be…

Goldberg acknowledges that sometimes animal testing can be beneficial, but he also goes into detail about other ways in which the same testing can be done with little or no use of whole living animals. The process of in vitro can be utilized in order to study different drugs on individual colonies of cells as opposed to whole organisms (Goldberg).
