Millions of animals are used as subjects to tests essence, food preservatives, corrective products, cures, household disinfectors, etc. When the animals go through testing they may experience many side effects such as pain, discomfort, blindness, hair loss, numbness, burns, or deafness. Sometimes the animals are forced to inhale chemicals causing physical and mental distress (Humane Society International). Animals are forced to participate in many experiments such as: trying new drugs, being injected with diseases, being implanting in the brain with electrodes, being physically disabled, being blinded, and many other painful/invasive procedures. Many procedures require restraint of the animal using restraint devices designed to keep an animal from moving. Some experiments test mobile parts of an animal 's body: neck, pelvis, head, and/or legs while other involve immobilization of an animal 's body.
