Experiments and different use of testing resources is how technology has become so advanced in today’s society. Experiments that use animals have been a controversial topic in recent years. Animal testing helps us gain more knowledge about different chemicals and medicines, but can be harmful to the animals, making it inhumane. On the other side, our knowledge to advance medicine and technology will dwindle if animal testing is banned. For hundreds of years, using animals for testing on different products have been controversial from extremist to moderate protesting of different organizations. Most organizations don’t realize the how beneficial animal testing is and how much the scientists do care about the animals. Restating that animal testing has advanced our knowledge about humans and drugs. So forth, animal testing has created a better and longer life for humans making it ethical based on the benefits testing has for humans. The unethical side is using animals for testing that aren’t beneficial or absolutely required to help humans, like for cosmetics. Animal testing has been around for centuries dating back to Aristotle, Galen, and Ibun Ruhr. These physician-scientist used animals to understand anatomy, pathology and help with surgical procedures (Haiar). The use of animal testing escalated in the 1600s making it more of a controversial topic.
