Animal testing should be banned. “An animal test is any scientific experiment of
test in which a live animal is forced to undergo something that is likely to cause them
pain, suffering, distress or lasting harm” (crueltyfreeinternational.org). Animal testing
has been practiced since 300-200 BC. These test were led by men like Aristole and
Eragistratus. They used live animals to test various medical procedures. In 1242,
animals a scientist named Ibn al-Nafis used animals to study his theory about the
human blood circulatory system. In 1880 a man named Louis Pasteur and he used
sheep and anthrax (a bacterial disease of sheep and cattle that normally affects the skin
and lungs) to prove the theory that germs were harmful and what caused illness.
Pasteur developed the practice of pasteurizing milk, which boiled the milk to kill bacteria
and germs. In the late 1800s people had began standing against animal testing. Great
Britain passed the Cruelty to Animals Act in 1879. A Nobel Prize was awarded to Emil
von Behring in 1901 for creating an immunization for humans. He had to use an animal
