Imagine being locked in a cage with thousands of drugs pumping through your system, not only leaving long-term damage but having the effect to kill you. This is happening to thousands of animals.

Animal testing has said to have been around since the third and fourth centuries when pigs and goats were dissected to study their insides. What once started as pure curiosity has turned into people using animals, for almost everything. You have to agree that this is wrong and has to be stopped.

People that believe that animal testing is much safer than testing on humans haven't done their research, because currently, 9 out of 10 experimental drugs fail in clinical studies. So what could have ended an animals life, was a waste of time, giving no scientific evidence to back up the tests that took place. Lots of animals are built very differently from humans, so even if the test was successful, we still wouldn't know the effect, it could have on a human.

Any cosmetic or medical companies will tell consumers that their products are the best since it has been tested on animals for safety, but the truth behind animal testing will make buyers think twice about their merchandise. Nowadays, more and more people are teaming up against animal testing. According to Troy Seidle a pole concluded that, “88 percent of us believe animal testing causes pain and suffering to animals and that such suffering just for cosmetics isn’t worth it, especially when safe ingredients are already available,”(Seidle). Considering that most people don’t feel the need to buy products with newly tested ingredients, why should companies continue to do that it is not an absolutely necessary practice. There are thousands of chemicals out there that have already gone through the process of being tested so it wouldn’t be like companies couldn’t make new products, they could make many. Yes companies want to make money by selling newly improved products but that is not going to make people want to buy products that aren’t apart of their daily use. Gregory Mone states that animal testing is a long and expensive process and can take several years and use up millions of dollars to carry out, (Mone).…

This quote explains animal testing perfectly; “Many cosmetic companies test their new products and ingredients by forcing rabbits, hamsters, and mice, among others, to endure horrific practices such as breathing in poisonous fumes or having lethal chemicals poured into their eyes and rubbed into their skin”(Natasha Cole, Cruelty Free Cosmetics). Many supporters of animal testing will argue that it can have positive outcomes, however, humanity uses it in vain ways. This makes it especially wrong because humans are treating animals cruelly and inhumanely mostly to look attractive. Continuing on about cosmetic testing on animals: “Animal testing for cosmetics is an outdated practice and does not provide the most reliable results regarding the safety, performance, or possible reactions that cosmetic products or ingredients could have in a person” (Natasha Cole, Cruelty Free Cosmetics). The reason to continue these means of testing on animals proves to be no longer relevant because easier and more reliable ways of testing do indeed exist.…

In March 2006, six human volunteers were injected with a drug that had been cleared in rats, rabbits, mice and monkeys with no effects. And within minutes the volunteers were withering on the floor with agony. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/aysha-akhtar/animal- experiments_b_4209541.html) “elephant man trial”…

Animal testing is an unnecessary part of science that should be gotten rid of completely. Instead of sacrificing the lives of innocent animals, we should spend our time studying the cells of humans and how the product can impact someone before testing it on humans. Animals used for scientific or product testing are under an unnatural and stressful environment, one they would otherwise never come across in life, causing the animal to not react as it should. The Animal Welfare Act states that animals can be burned, shocked, and poisoned. They also state that any experiment that wants to be tested is prohibited no matter how trivial it may be.…

Other animals experimented on are household animals like dogs, cats, rabbits, rats, hamsters, Guinea pigs, and farm animals. Every time we test on these animals there's a 50% chance it could fail, that’s when we start wasting lives. The failure of testing is risky because animals would get diseases like brain cancer or any other kinds of diseases that they probably wouldn’t get. Researchers don’t really care just what to know the outcome. “ No experiment, No matter how painful or trivial is prohibited and painkillers are not prohibited”( Animal testing is bad).…

According to Humane Society International, approximately 100,000,000 animals suffer and die yearly from cosmetic testing. Experiments are conducted on these animals to determine whether or not new products might cause skin and/or eye irritation. Animals that are allegedly protected underneath the Animal Welfare Act do not have the protection that the law has promised, but yet they should. The federal government should enforce and develop stricter laws regarding animal testing within the cosmetic manufacturing industry which would decrease the number of animals that would suffer in the US.…

I think these tests are unnecessary but I cannot prevent them. I are working in close collaboration with different Chinese regulatory authorities to bring rapid change to the regulatory framework of cosmetics products which requires animal testing, so can be recognized the many alternative methods that are already validated in many other countries. Thus, I contributed in November 2013 to the first-phase for the validation of a skin irritation alternative method in China. The alternative methods are not yet all available but I possess a wealth of data accumulated over a century as well as a battery of in vitro and in silicon tools developed by my advanced research teams which fuel my predictive evaluation strategies. I do not put “cruelty-free” labels on any of my products because these labels do not guarantee the quality or the safety of cosmetic products, nor do I think it would be desirable.…

After studying multiple views on animal testing I have come to realize my personal view has now changed since the start of my research. Before undergoing heavy study into animal testing I believed that all types of animal testing should be stopped, but now I believe that the idea is very beneficial and should only be done when the rights of the animal are considered. In the coming years, hopefully, more regulations can be passed to ensure that all animal’s lives are protected during experimentation. Although most animals are treated with care and no pain is dealt to them when undergoing testing, it would be a lie if I stated no animals are harmed during the process. Animal testing is extremely useful in developing life-saving drugs and medicine.…
