Animal testing is not the same as taking your companion to the vet. Some people believe that animal experimentation is beneficial, but for others it is cruel and a form of torture. Animal testing is any scientific experiment where a live animal is forced to suffer through a procedure that will most likely bring them pain, suffering, or death. After living a life full of pain, loneliness, and terror, almost all of the animals will be killed. Due to the stress of their living conditions, some animals began to develop disturbing types of behavior. For instance nonstop spinning in circles, pulling out their own fur, and hurting themselves. Over 100 million animals suffer and die in the United States every year in medical labs, food, and cosmetic test. Some tests performed on these animals may include forcing mice to inhale toxic fumes, force-feeding dogs pesticides, and dripping corrosive chemicals into rabbits’ sensitive eyes. After describing these experiments, would you volunteer to have a new drug injected into you? No, probably not. Well, these animals don’t have a choice. We are their voice. …show more content…
Products are tested for safety because they need to meet the legal requirements of identifying possible hazards to humans, animals, and the environment. Products like cosmetics are tested for the purpose of liability. Companies like Banana Boat, Cover Girl, and Windex, have all tested their products on animals. Mice, rats, and rabbits are the majority of animals that are used during toxicity tests. However, some tests by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) might require the use of dogs and other primates. The test preformed on the animals may not have the same effect on humans. The best method to test for human toxicity would be to test on humans, which is immoral. Still, science has advanced due to the development of animal tests that are currently being

The main reason is because animals are biologically different from humans. For example, a mouse can produce Vitamin C on it’s own, they have no gall bladder, and can not throw up, therefore, they should not be one of the most commonly used animals for testing products. There are many cases in which there are various studies showing the effect of a certain cancer but then it does not cause cancer in an animal when tested. This is due to them having a different anatomy and makeup. As everyone learns growing up, everyone reacts differently to various chemicals.…

Also, plenty of these companies that test on animals claim to do it because there are requirement laws for it in other countries that they sell to (“About Cosmetic Testing”); if this is the case then these companies shouldn 't sell to those countries till new laws are passed. So on, there is no necessity to use animals for cosmetics testing, making it unethical and cruel to the animals. There should be more laws on testing on animals in the basis of cosmetics, but separate from…

Oliveira 1 Animals should not be used for scientific or commercial testing because animal testing is cruel and inhumane, alternate testing methods are available, and because humans and animals are every different from each other making animals very poor test subjects. Research on living animals has been practiced since at least 500 BC (Animal Testing Pro & Con). Scientist use animals for many different purposes. Animals are used to test the effectiveness and safety of new drugs before those drugs are given to people to treat illness and disease. Animals can also be used as test subjects for products like lipstick, eyeshadow, contact lens solution, and shampoo (Hayhurst, 26).…

This quote explains animal testing perfectly; “Many cosmetic companies test their new products and ingredients by forcing rabbits, hamsters, and mice, among others, to endure horrific practices such as breathing in poisonous fumes or having lethal chemicals poured into their eyes and rubbed into their skin”(Natasha Cole, Cruelty Free Cosmetics). Many supporters of animal testing will argue that it can have positive outcomes, however, humanity uses it in vain ways. This makes it especially wrong because humans are treating animals cruelly and inhumanely mostly to look attractive. Continuing on about cosmetic testing on animals: “Animal testing for cosmetics is an outdated practice and does not provide the most reliable results regarding the safety, performance, or possible reactions that cosmetic products or ingredients could have in a person” (Natasha Cole, Cruelty Free Cosmetics). The reason to continue these means of testing on animals proves to be no longer relevant because easier and more reliable ways of testing do indeed exist.…

Animal testing is cruel and inhumane. These animals are subjected to forced feeding, forced inhalation, food and water deprivation, prolonged periods of physical restraint, infliction of burns and wounds to study the healing process and effects and remedies. Among the cruelest experiments is the Draize eye test which evaluates irritation by shampoos and other products to the eyes. During this experiment rabbits are restrained and their eyelids are held open by clips for multiple days which leads to the death of 50% of rabbits used (Scientific American, "Do Cosmetic Companies Still Test on Live Animals?," scientificamerican.com). We also are very different from animals; having different metabolic, anatomical, and cellular differences.…

As said before, animals and humans have very different internal systems which means that some chemicals that would be harmful to animals could be perfectly fine to give to humans. An example of this is the drug aspirin. Aspirin is harmful to some animal species but alright to give to humans. Animal testing for medical purposes is pretty much worthless. Instead of wasting all the time…

One very strong reason to stop testing on animals is it isn't reliable. First of all we have completely different anatomy (body parts). Obviously we and animals have different body parts, that means different cells, different organs, different DNA, and different functions, how can we count on the medicine that works for them to work for us. Another thing our toxic metabolism isn't in compare. And with different metabolisms, our tolerances will be different,so the amounts that work for them or don’t will be different for humans.…
