Approximately 70 million dogs and 74.1 cats million are assaulted per minute; this is an average 10 million a year (The Humane Society of the United States). What is animal cruelty? Cruelty to animals, called animal abuse or animal neglect, and also animal testing is both the unintentional and the intentional infliction of suffering or harm upon any animal by humans, regardless of whether the act is against the law. Why is this so important? It is important because people who abuse animals often move on to abusing people and because animals are creatures who feel pain. Animal testing should be illegal because animals are held against their will, and they are used for experimentation. Animal testing results in helpless creatures being burned, crippled, poisoned or sometimes killed (Canine Journal1). 15 million warm-blooded animals are tortured daily in laboratories (Pawfect).66, 000 dogs and 21,000 cats are subjected to testing every year (Canine Journal1). Animal testing is a cruel and inhumane practice. It kills or seriously injures many types of species (Canine Journal1). It is not just rats that are being used for testing. Rabbits, mice, birds, amphibians, as well as dogs and cats, are all tested on. (Canine Journal1)Testing subject animals for pharmaceutical drugs, carcinogens, makeup testing, and killing pregnant animals and testing on fetuses (Canine Journal1).are all examples on how animals are harmed during testing. Based on the research, animal testing is only profitable to humans not the animals. In summary animal testing brings a lot pain and suffering on animals, and should be illegal.
