Animal Testing Persuasive Essay

Improved Essays
Animals should not have to suffer anymore. If animals had a voice this is what they would say. Animals are experimented on because they cannot defend themselves. It is not fair, they should be able to live their life freely. I believe that animal testing is wrong and inhumane, and that we should stop animal testing all together.
Today's modern technology has made it to a point in time to where we might not have to use animals anymore. In fact, "It is now possible to conduct a vast array of experiments without using animals and derive results that are faster, cheaper and more relevant to human medicine" (Citizens for Alternatives to Animal Research). There are pros and cons of animal testing, but to eliminate animal testing would be great.

Besides, "Cosmetic testing on live animals is an outdated, inaccurate and cruel method of determining products' safety for human use" (Fact Sheet: Cosmetic Testing). If we have to test most of these products on animals, there might be a problem. Maybe we should take a second to think about the danger that we are putting these animals in. These animals are not just being tested on animals as little as fish and rats, they have taken it as far as dogs, cats, farm animals, even chimpanzees. The people who do the testing say different animals are used for different testing. I truly believe that cosmetic testing or any testing should be stopped.
Although, "Animal testing has contributed to many life-saving cures and treatments" (Should Animals Be Used for Scientific or Commercial Testing?). No matter the ways animals may help us, we can still try and find a way to test products, or medicines without using animals. They should have their own rights also.

To conclude, this evidence has clearly proven that using animals for testing is wrong and inhumane. We experiment on animals for our benefits To make sure cosmetics, and medicines are safe for us. If we find a way to test these products without using the animals that would be great. So maybe next time you buy a cosmetic product you will think to check if it was tested on animals now that you know the harm that is forced upon

Maybe one day technology will have advanced so far as to render animal testing unnecessary, which would be ideal, but that day is simply not today. However we must not be wanton or ruthless in our testing of animals, just as animal test subjects are necessary so are the ethical and moral policies that regulate animal testing. Scientific advancement should never rely on what is blatantly cruel and scientists should always strive to do as little harm or cause as little distress as possible to their test subjects. Animal testing can lead to great advancements in medical technology and it is our job to make sure that we take the comfort and well being of the animals being tested into account. After all, to anthropomorphize for a moment, isn’t that the least we can do for the beings who are helping us treat all the diseases we are susceptible…

There are many alternatives to animal testing and excuses need to stop being made to keep animal testing in business. It may seem like it is the only option, but there are so many new ways to do the exact same test in ways which do not involve animals at all. It is cruel and inhumane to keep animals in small cages and not only physically, but also mentally harm them. Artist Leonardo Da Vinci once said, “The time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men.” The time for animals to be treated similarly to humans can be…

Testing cosmetics on animals is a very controversial issue that has grown over the past years. I believe that cosmetic animal testing is wrong and should be banned because it is cruel, inaccurate, not very reliable, and has been proven to be unnecessary. Approximately 200,000 animals will suffer and die every year for cosmetics around the world. We as a whole have all decided that this is not necessary which is why we stopped making testing on animal cosmetics something that had to be done. Companies still continue to do it.…

This quote explains animal testing perfectly; “Many cosmetic companies test their new products and ingredients by forcing rabbits, hamsters, and mice, among others, to endure horrific practices such as breathing in poisonous fumes or having lethal chemicals poured into their eyes and rubbed into their skin”(Natasha Cole, Cruelty Free Cosmetics). Many supporters of animal testing will argue that it can have positive outcomes, however, humanity uses it in vain ways. This makes it especially wrong because humans are treating animals cruelly and inhumanely mostly to look attractive. Continuing on about cosmetic testing on animals: “Animal testing for cosmetics is an outdated practice and does not provide the most reliable results regarding the safety, performance, or possible reactions that cosmetic products or ingredients could have in a person” (Natasha Cole, Cruelty Free Cosmetics). The reason to continue these means of testing on animals proves to be no longer relevant because easier and more reliable ways of testing do indeed exist.…

It is unacceptable behaviour from people in our modern world today. Even though some animals are needed for medical research for the tests that give us reliable results, cosmetic research is not necessary. By not in this day and age we should know what chemicals people can work with and what chemicals we cannot. We have enough cosmetic products and brands, it is not necessary for cosmetic researchers to go on and test on animals. Animals should have similar rights as people, and we need to learn to share our planet with them.…
