Product safety is important for companies producing personal care and household products. To run a productive business, their products must be safe and effective. Any adverse reactions to products can be damaging to the companies that produced them; severe reactions could lead to expensive lawsuits. Making the most reliable products creates customer satisfaction and increases business and profits. Animal testing also allows companies to develop and test new concepts and products. Successful and efficient testing of their products might place a company in a better competitive position than another company, which pleases stockholders and increases profits for the company.
