For most people there are two scenarios that come to mind when they hear animal testing. The first scenario is that scientist are torturing, neglecting and abusing the animals that are being tested on. The other scenario is that scientist are being ethical, take care of the animals and are creating life-saving medicines. This makes the use of animals in experiments a controversial topic; a topic that isn’t quite black and white when argued. There are different types of animal testing like, medical testing and cosmetic testing; one is more ethical than the other.…
Moreover, while the research asserts that medical breakthroughs resulted from animal testing, that does not mean that such breakthroughs would not have occurred through other methods. Just because scientists have used animal testing is no proof of its…
On average, about 26 million animals are taken and used as little test subjects for big corporations to test their possibly harmful, and occasionally lethal, products before they release them to the public's use. This testing on animals began in 500 B.C and many corporations that participate in it see no harm, and have absolutely no intentions of stopping it anytime soon. There are many people that think testing these possibly dangerous products on innocent animals is not a big deal, but this paper will inform the public with some statistics and also give you the writer's perspective on why animal testing is wrong. One thing that is very arguable when talking about whether testing on these creatures should be approved, and continue or…
Centuries have come and gone since the first form of animal testing was performed by the likes of Aristotle and Eristaratus (Hajar). This was back in the days where there was no technology to test medicines or different types of substances, therefore it is reasonable why the tested on animals. To this day multimillionaire companies keep testing on defenseless animals. Humanity has been able to come far in so many aspects of life, but when it comes to testing new products or drugs we are at a horrifying standstill. Technology is the key to open an infinite amount of opportunities to create better and more accurate systems of researching and testing.…
Animals are there for people to enjoy and have fun with. They come in many different shapes, sizes, and types. Yet not all animals are not treated by the same standards as other animals. Animal testing is wrong because of the effects it has on the animals such as the harmful side effects, the reduction of life expectancy, and the lasting effects it has on the animal. Most of the time the test subjects are harmed in some way.…
Animal testing is the human act of using lively, conscious animals to test products, not caring what the aftermath may be. According to peta.org, more than 100 million animals are slaughtered in U.S. laboratories. Those that have the heart to inflict this type of brutality do this immobilizing them in restraint devices for hours, drilling holes into their skulls having their spinal cords crushed. (peta.org). Other than the physical atrocities that humans are forcing vulnerable animals into, they are also isolated from their own kind, confined to barren cages, and therefore, become severely traumatized.…
Later in her article, Jennifer Klein says, The harm of animals caused by cosmetic and other companies brings us to the adoption of other methods ending the live-animal test and changing the situation to the more safe and morally correct standing (Klein 2012). Therefore, we should be starting a change for the future and limiting animal testing. With less animal testing and more alternatives, the world can focus more on what is right, then what is…
Right now animals are being put through excruciating pain. You can prevent this. You can stop this injustice. You ca save countless helpless lives. Animal experimentation has been an extraordinarily controversial topic since animal testing first began.…
In our daily lives, we use different products for a variety of things. In drugstores and in our local malls, there are categories of diverse items that are available to us. These items can range from makeup, skincare, hair products, prescription medicine and much more. They contribute in making our lives easier and more productive. These products are often designed to enhance our appearance and health.…
considering they were “God’s creation” as some will say (Monamy 10). On the contrary, British Lord Chancellor Francis Bacon thought that animal testing is an excellent way to learn more about our bodies and how it works (Monamy 10). However, this controversy made animal testing rise. An additional amount of scientists started using different types of animals such as monkeys, rats, birds, dogs, cats, and the list goes on and on. With animal testing in use, scientist found out how the digestive, respiratory, nervous, muscular, etc.…
After studying multiple views on animal testing I have come to realize my personal view has now changed since the start of my research. Before undergoing heavy study into animal testing I believed that all types of animal testing should be stopped, but now I believe that the idea is very beneficial and should only be done when the rights of the animal are considered. In the coming years, hopefully, more regulations can be passed to ensure that all animal’s lives are protected during experimentation. Although most animals are treated with care and no pain is dealt to them when undergoing testing, it would be a lie if I stated no animals are harmed during the process. Animal testing is extremely useful in developing life-saving drugs and medicine.…
Charles Darwin a 19th-century English naturalist once said, “The only difference between humans and other animals was a difference of degree, not kind” (Levine). These words brought Americas and Great Britain’s attention to the use of animals in testing and the inherent cruelty of it. The French Philosopher, Rene Descartes, believed that “animals were incapable of feeling pain” (Levine), but Darwin’s idea brought about that animal testing is inhumane, does not benefit humans, is inconsistent, inaccurate, and costly. No one is sure of the exact numbers of how many animals are used solely for scientific testing but the estimate is around 14 million to 100 million a year (Levine).…
Sometimes, sacrifices are necessary for the greater good. Specifically, in the scientific field, experiments must be conducted to verify whether drugs actually work. To do so scientists often use animal such as rats and monkey, but with the recent evidence of animals having certain cognitive abilities. This use of animals raises serious ethical issues with animal rights activist strongly fighting against the use of animal testing. Therefore, is animal testing still justifiable?…
How would you feel if someone do an experience on you? Imagine if someone did that to you, would you like it? Millions of animals are killed everyone due to scientists doing test on them. If you think about it imagine what are those tests do to the animals, it damages their body some become very severely ill that they end up death. An unknown author from article “Animal testing” stated that human have no rights to use animals as if they were disposal objects.…
Millions of animals are put through unavailing animal tests each year, and most of them suffer abuse that is senseless because most tests are inaccurate. Peggy Carlson, an animal rights activist and head of the humane society argues “Nearly everything that medicine has learned about what substances cause human cancer and birth defects has come from human clinical and epidemiological studies because animal experiments do not accurately predict what occurs in humans” (161). In other words animals are being used and abused in tests that are not even projecting similar results as they would if humans were to do the test. Scientists say animals are used in testing because they are similar to humans in many ways. The truth is, they are similar to humans in many ways, but we are not exactly identical and also have many differences that affect test results.…
