Most of the population see animal testing as cruel yet a necessity for medical progress. But, do the benefits outweigh the costs? Is animal research reliable on humans? According to Aysha Akhtar, the Food and Drug Administration estimated that 92 percent of drugs that pass animals testing, later fails in humans (410). There are many differences among animal species, while some medications and/or chemicals are harmless to humans they can be lethal to animals and vice versa.
