Animal Testing Argumentative Essay

Imagine being so innocent but still be stuck in a cage for a long period of time. Being forced to take a test. Not knowing what’s happening. Staying in a cage while people observe every day to see if there is irritation, bleeding, or any internal harm to the body. Scientists hold animals in labs for long periods of time and use them for testing so they can make sure certain things are safe to use. People test a lot of items using animal testing including makeup, cosmetics, food clothing and some others. When they test on animals they do it on mice, rats and guinea pigs. They test for skin irritation, body damage or even death. Many people believe it is not necessary for people to animal test. There are many unfortunate effects of animal …show more content…
They say this because people would rather lose an animal's life than humans, animals have no right, they are similar to humans, and they help us always make sure we are using safe products through animal testing. First off, animals have no right for these reasons. Not many people just let them be animals. The first and foremost reason is people, test on them. “According to Humane Society International, animals used in experiments are commonly subjected to force feeding, forced inhalation, food and water deprivation…” This does not make it seem that animals have rights. It makes them seem like they are being hurt and hurt until they can’t be anymore. Like they are pieces of paper being ripped and ripped until there is nothing left. There are other reasons, such as, they kill animals for food, and they use them for fur. Humans don’t get treated like this. Therefore, they are not looked at and viewed as animals are, they are different. In many more ways than this. They have different bodies and structures. Their Bodies also provide different reactions than people’s. This is true, that they help us know what is safe for us. But, they help us figure this out through animal testing which is cruel, ineffective, and heartless as explained before. Animal testing is more horrible than

Testing on animals is also a lot more expensive and non-practical than alternative methods. (Animals In). “Some people, including some scientists object to the practice strictly on ethical and moral grounds, refuting or rejecting any scientific evidence that animal testing is helpful to humans.” (Judson 12). However, groups opposing the cruel treatment of animals were influential in getting regulations passed to protect welfare of animals.…

For most people there are two scenarios that come to mind when they hear animal testing. The first scenario is that scientist are torturing, neglecting and abusing the animals that are being tested on. The other scenario is that scientist are being ethical, take care of the animals and are creating life-saving medicines. This makes the use of animals in experiments a controversial topic; a topic that isn’t quite black and white when argued. There are different types of animal testing like, medical testing and cosmetic testing; one is more ethical than the other.…

People, especially scientists, are hurting innocent animals that did no harm to anyone. Animal testing shouldn't be allowed to happen because animals are getting hurt, they are not protected, and animals get mistreated. One reason that animal testing shouldn’t be allowed is because animals are getting hurt. For instance, the Draize eye test involves rabbits having their eyelids clipped open for as long as multiple days so that they don’t blink the product being tested away. Popular cosmetic brands like L'oreal, Lancome, Estee Lauder, and S.C. Johnson are used on animals.…

During animal testing, many animals are killed after experimenting on them and the others remain alive with injuries and in captivity. 95% of the animals tested are not protected by Animal Welfare Act including mice, fish and birds and they are all suffering abuse and mistreatment. Even with the protection provided by the Animal Welfare Act, some horrific cases of animal abuse in the laboratories wasn’t prevented. Some people also find it immoral to test and experiment on animals for the human benefit saying that animals have feelings and do suffer like humans which makes it unfair to experiment on them what cannot be experimented on humans only because they do not have the ability to express their feelings. However, animal rights supporters only oppose scientists but not the farmers who kill animals daily for food but call the scientists cruel for killing animals for the advancement of medical field although, 99% of animals killed are by farmers while only 1% are by scientists (Ian, Should Animals Be Used for Scientific or Commercial Testing?).…

Animal testing is cruel and inhumane. These animals are subjected to forced feeding, forced inhalation, food and water deprivation, prolonged periods of physical restraint, infliction of burns and wounds to study the healing process and effects and remedies. Among the cruelest experiments is the Draize eye test which evaluates irritation by shampoos and other products to the eyes. During this experiment rabbits are restrained and their eyelids are held open by clips for multiple days which leads to the death of 50% of rabbits used (Scientific American, "Do Cosmetic Companies Still Test on Live Animals?," scientificamerican.com). We also are very different from animals; having different metabolic, anatomical, and cellular differences.…

In the article, Medical Testing on Animals is Cruel and Unnecessary, PETA said,”Even animals who are covered by the law can be burned, shocked, poisoned, isolated, starved, forcibly restrained, addicted to drugs, and brain-damaged-no procedures or experiments, regardless of how trivial or painful they may be, are prohibited by law.” Animals in experiments are not thought of as living beings that think and feel like we do, they are thought of as lab equipment that can be manipulated and thrown away at any time. Even though laws and welfare acts have been put in place to protect and care for animals being tested on, nothing can stop a scientist from performing a cruel experiment if they say it is in the name of science. Moreover, in the article, Animal Experimentation is Unnecessary, Sarah Rose A. Miller said,”If the animals are in a state of extreme distress from being trapped in tiny cages their whole lives with no stimuli and no room to move around, it can induce their various bodily systems to behave differently.” The animals are kept in filthy, barren cages, are socially deprived, and the only change in their day to day activity is when a scientist comes to take them for a new painful…

Other animals experimented on are household animals like dogs, cats, rabbits, rats, hamsters, Guinea pigs, and farm animals. Every time we test on these animals there's a 50% chance it could fail, that’s when we start wasting lives. The failure of testing is risky because animals would get diseases like brain cancer or any other kinds of diseases that they probably wouldn’t get. Researchers don’t really care just what to know the outcome. “ No experiment, No matter how painful or trivial is prohibited and painkillers are not prohibited”( Animal testing is bad).…
