Many technological advances have made experimentation on animals obsolete. Alternative methods of animal experimentation can now be provided in laboratories around the world. These options include digital models off of computers and tissue and skin cultured. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development have begun using these new and improved methods to replace the use of living animals. Skin cultured is a method that, “consist of normal, human-derived skin cells that have been cultured to form a multilayered model of human skin” (Product Testing: Toxic and Tragic) Examples of skin cultures used as an alternative to animals include EpiDerm, EpiSkin, Eyetex, and in vitro. With these new methods, researchers can “test the potential damage that a product can do” (Save the Animals: Stop Animal Testing) which can minimize animal testing. Through a computerized model of the human body, researchers can try experiments and different scenarios through the computer rather than animals. These methods have been proven useful and reliable alternatives compared to animal testing. Alternative methods need to be used more throughout the world now that they have become available to researchers these methods can help the act of stopping animal …show more content…
The fact that humans and animals are so different is a major factor brought up when discussing whether animal testing is reliable or not. Animal testing results do not provide enough information about how different chemicals and products react in the body. The fact that researchers do not gather much information from their experiments makes it questionable about how safe the products that are producing for humans are. These test also do not precisely predict how these products will react in the human body. “Animal experimentation only benefits human beings if their results are valid” (Experimentation on animals) Many of the test done my scientist and researchers are not one hundred percent accurate. People should not test on animals when the information that he or she is gathering will in reality not benefit other people and not the animals. The “Reactions to the exposure of these products vary among species”(About Animal Testing) which make it hard to gather data from animal testing. This makes it more difficult to apply certain products to real life situations involving humans. There is no need to continue testing on animals when the data gathered not reliable and can not be accurately applied to humans when they are the intended
