Animal welfare ensures that animals are getting their proper needs and no unnecessary treatment is causing harm to them during research and other testing. Animal rights is the act of putting animals and humans on the same moral level in all their needs. Animal rights activist question if humans have the right to exploit other sentient beings for any purpose. Their argue is that animals should have the same rights as humans because animals experience the same emotions as us and to use them for our needs is inhumane. Technology is improving and will soon stop the practice of experimenting on animals. High quality research and testing on animals can replicate poorly on human clinical research. Even though experiments and research on animals are shown to be positive and working, not all of the information from a study is given to the public. For example, mice are mainly used in experiments and are considered unreliable. Mice are cheap and easy to obtain by scientists and researchers. They are considered to be unreliable in approximating human biological …show more content…
The three R’s are reduction, refinement, and replacement. Reduction is used in animal testing so scientists can also go off by previous tests and studies instead of doing multiple tests. Refinement is used to limit the amount of distress and pain animals may experience during testing and research. Replacement was brought about to use different animals like microorganisms and plants. With the continuation of improvement in technology, it will soon stop the practice of experimenting on animals. The Animal Welfare Act (AWA) was created to set limitations and requirements of safety for animals. Animal welfare and human safety are regulated through government licensing. An animal attraction is then given accreditation after they have a license and sign and agree to the AWA. Without animal rights, humans will continue to control animals and treat them inhumanely that will only get worse and take away our needs and also theirs to
