My sophomore year, happen all too fast, but one detail I remember the most was the Animal Project. I was excited to when the Animal Project was first assigned to pick the animal of our choice. Being that I have an interest in animals, but reptiles the most so I decided upon an anaconda. I remember waking up bright and early one morning the sun had, yet peeked from behind the clouds. It was pitch black I could see nothing through my window, but the gleaming streetlights. My body insisted that I go back to bed for an hour, but my mind cautious me to shut off my alarm raise from bed and start my day. It felt as though my mind knew what my body could not yet fathom. All was going good, until my three weeks until the due date. I was preparing to leave from my first period class drama, I throw my computer in my pack without a second glance. The bell rang, I whipped my backpack across my shoulder and next then I knew my computer flew out and hit the floor. I when I opened my computer there was a medium size white file quickly flashing across the screen. I tried to restart the computer but with no affect the white file still continued to pop up. I had only two options, go to my next class or go to tech to find out what they could do about it. I was told by a tech employee to come back after school to check on it, so throughout the day was worried that everything on my computer was going to be saved. When I was dismissed from my final class the only matter in my mind was to get to tech and see what they had to say about my computer. I was not prepared for the news I was about to hear, “well, we managed to get it running just one thing, all your previous flies, documents, and music could not be recovered.” I nodded in shock “I did just hear what I think I

When I was four, I became a world-renowned veterinarian. Confidently, I strolled out of my house wearing my ID card and lab coat into the crisp and brightly lit night air. It was Halloween, and I was ready to conquer the neighborhood. Even though I was only playing the part of animal doctor for the night, it was evident that my love for amazing creatures was as real as any vet’s.…

In George Orwell’s novel, Animal Farm, he proves that it is inevitable for humans to equate everyone. Orwell explains this by his story which is about a group of farm animals that rebel against their farmer. After he gets kicked out, Napoleon, a pig, takes power and corrupts the farm. His power gets to the point where they were better off with the farmer, Mr. Jones. Orwell also illustrates how it is human nature to make mistakes and take control of power.…

Aside from the obvious species differences in the characters of Animal Farm and 1984 (animals and humans), the characters of both books offer an interesting comparison. Napoleon, great leader of the animal rebellion, mirrors many of the authority figures in 1984, such as Big Brother, leader of the Party, or O’Brien, member of the privileged Inner Party. O’Brien in particular offers a good contrast to Napoleon. Both the pig and the man share the dubious characteristic of hiding behind an identity that promotes hope among the masses. O’Brien pretends to be a member of a secret resistance society, the Brotherhood, and easily fools Winston and Julia into trusting him, ultimately sealing their doom. Napoleon is less subtle, but all of rights…

There are many parallels to be found between George Orwell’s Animal Farm, and the Yemeni Revolution of 2011. The Yemenis and the animals of Manor Farm were each under the supremacy of dictators, Ali Abdullah Saleh, and Mr. Jones. Realization dawned on both the animals and the Yemenis, and revolutions broke out with the objective to overthrow their dictators in hopes of a better future. They were living under similar conditions before the revolution, yet the way each of the revolutions took place slightly differentiated. The aftermath of each, however, was very similar.…

An “Animal Factory Farm” is a large-scale industrial operation that houses thousands of animals raised for food, such as chickens, turkeys, cows, and pigs. The producers treat them with hormones and antibiotics to prevent disease and maximize their growth and food output ( “11 Facts,” “Farm,” “Factory,” Kaplan, Porter). No doubt, animal factory farm is hurting the environment and harming the human health (“Factory”). To afford the daily food that people need, the U.S. raised and slaughtered nearly nine billion animals each year alone, “Factory farms yield a relatively small amount of meat, dairy, and eggs for this input, and in return produce staggering quantities of waste and greenhouse gases, polluting our land, air, and water and…

Ever since I was young, I have always loved my stuffed animals; even today, a large portion of my bed is covered in them. Each animal has a name and a story of who it is and how it became mine. Out of all of these animals, one specific gorilla holds a special place in my heart, because of how I came to acquire it. This gorilla, named Monkey, was given to me in March of 2003: the last time I saw my father before he totaled his truck. Cherishing Monkey is my way of reminding myself that, while he is not physically the same, my dad is still the same dad he was before his wreck.…

Nearly 15 years ago, I was in the first grade being asked to draw the person I imagined myself to be when I grew up. My picture portrayed me and several different types of animals at a veterinary clinic with the explanation stating, “When I grow up, I want to be a vet because I want to help animals.” I grew up an only-child and was devoted to all types of animals as if they were part of my family. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a vet. As a child, I would pretend to do surgery by stitching together holes in my stuffed animals.…

Life is a not just one big picture. No, it is not one specific goal or interest. Throughout my childhood, every morning before my father left from work, he would kiss me on the head and say “work hard and play hard today Anna.” He taught me to try my best in everything that I do, academics, sports, friendships, etc., even if failure was the result. I came to George Fox with a mindset of becoming a Physician’s Assistant one day, so I chose the Biology route, with a Spanish minor.…

In the world today, people cannot do without animals because they have become an essential part of human existence to both vegetarians and meat eaters. Some animals serve as pet, and some serve as food, and others are used for sports and laboratory experiments. Although some animal activist advocates for animal rights, there are limits to that right because animals cannot be equal with human. They don’t have the intellectual ability that humans have to take responsibilities and control what happens around them. These animals are important in the society and the need to treat them with respect is paramount.…
