Experimenting on innocent creatures is completely horrific. According to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, otherwise known as PETA, in the U.S alone, over 1.04 million animals were used for scientific experimentation in 2013. That number did not include mice or rats or reptiles, or amphibians. If those animals contributed to the number, it's estimated to be well over one hundred million animals, according to the PETA. You see, the feelings humans have towards humans are completely different than the feelings humans have towards animals. We care deeply for the well being of animals. But why is that? As a human race, humans care more for the innocent creatures. Innocent, meaning animals who have no say in what gets done to them. Which is why the experimentation on animals is completely wrong. …show more content…
Us humans take tremendous advantage of that. We decide their every move since they literally have no way to communicate, or resist anything humans do. Animals are used in many ways of experimentation. Those being for education, government, science, cosmetics and household items. If you were to think of it, experimentation on animals is so selfish. The human race is so curious for new findings, yet we do not want to sacrifice one of their own for advancements in science. We’d much rather use poor innocent animals who have no voice for our own benefits.
Arguers for the use of animals in experiments claim using animals for experimentation is completely right because “ animals are essential in scientific research, for developing medicines and safety testing.”. This is true but there are many other ways for coming up with new experiments not using animals. Scientists claim that they will be too “costly” and too time consuming, but in reality they need to stop being so lazy. There are millions of prisoners across the nation. One ninth of them serving lifetime sentences without parole. Instead of having their lives wasted why not put these inmates to good use, scientific advancement. Using these prisoners would not only help regulate amount of prisoners in prisons nationwide, but also help ensure the results from these experiments will be true due to using real human
