Animal Hoarding: True Or False?

Decent Essays
Two question come immediately to mind . . . first where in the name of all that is decent, no matter how distant, are the family members of this poor animal hoarder? Second this collection and living condition did not just happen over night someone must have been aware, maybe not exactly the full extent, but at least aware something was drastically amiss . . . so what took the authorities so long to take action? How immensely sad that no one cared about this person or all those animals enough to help somewhere down the sad path that lead to what happened this week.

It’s a very sad concept to fully understand because most people think, “Why would someone do terrible things to an innocent animal?”. That is a type of question that many organizations are asking themselves today. The question of the impact of captivity on animals remains one of the most challenging and controversial over the several decades. Some people disagree that zoos are an important part of animals conservation as they believe sanctuaries in animal's native habitat would bring more positive results as animals suffer from the constant human presence and lack of space. Others argue that zoos provide animals with even better conditions than in the wild and that without zoos many conservation programs would not exist so that for endangered species it is better to live in captivity than become extinct. Both opinions can exist as there are many zoos in the world and their facilities contrast greatly. It is obvious that ill-designed zoos does not serve…

Nearly half of all animals that arrive in U.S. shelters are euthanized because there is a lack of space and adopters, amounting to roughly 2.7 million dead animals every year or five out of every ten dogs and seven out of every ten cats – that’s like 80,000 animals per week” (Facts about Pet Homelessness).
