What makes an animal good? Is it their benefit to the ecosystem, their evolved skills, or how nice they are to look at? In all three categories the victor may be surprising. Snakes. Snakes are amazing, talented, and gorgeous. Their ecologic benefits are rooted in their prey, as I’m sure you know, snakes eat mice and rats. If snakes were less talented they wouldn’t be able to catch the rats, or even the harmful insects they keep at bay. Then the prey would multiply and eat until its food source ran dry, our crops and property being the food source. Imagine being able to climb trees, cliffs, to swim through rivers and oceans.
