Others believe that factory farms adequately address the demand for increased meat and that animals ultimately do not have any rights, so their practices could not be considered inhumane. These opposing views represent the existence and struggle between socialism and capitalism in America. Capitalism rewards people who are productive (Learn Liberty, 2011). The hardworking excel and new and innovative ideas have the opportunity to excel as well. Factory farms, such as Perdue, have taken the problem of an increased demand for chicken and provided a solution. Their innovative way of farming large quantities of chickens, plumping them up at expedited rates, and maximizing profit has enabled them to excel in the farming community. Their primary focuses on personal interests, as opposed to the interests of the chickens have been the motivation for the direction of their business (Fieser, 2015). Socialism, on the other hand, views community interests as most important when determining business activities (Fieser, 2015). Mass-producing chicken meat in unhealthy and unsafe ways does not put the interests of the community first. The socialists argue that factory farming actually causes harm to the chickens as well as the people who eat the chickens and should be illegal. Unfortunately for socialists, current farming laws in America have barely addressed the ‘inhumane’ qualities of the factory farms, and instead lean towards favoring the capitalist approach for individual success. Ag-Gag bills make it illegal to take a farm job undercover, apply for a farm job without disclosing a background as a journalist or animal-rights activist, and hold evidence of animal abuse past 24 to 48 hours before turning it over to authorities. These laws make it more difficult for people to create cases against cruelty to animals on farms and give factory farmers more rein to continue their practices (Solotaroff, 2013). The most notable ‘win’ for socialists has
