George Orwell used the Russian Revolution in his book by portraying what happened in the Russian Revolution and made the event happen on a farm with important people like Stalin had the name Napoleon on the farm. He did this to give people a better understanding of the event and to evoke emotions of the readers since nice animals suffer and die (like others did in the Russian Revolution)

For most of the time, the animals respected the pigs and thought they knew what was best or them. Much like the people of the Soviet Union thought the Politburo was helping them grow and not let Tsar Nicholas II take control again. With the pigs being the farm version of the Politburo the readers got a better understanding of how most of the animals trusted and followed the pigs, just like the people of the Soviet Union did for the Politburo. An example of this in the book would be, “ … Squealer’s lists of figures, which invariably demonstrated that everything was getting better and better.”(129-130, Orwell) The animals trusted that everything was better than when Jones was in power, especially because of all the evidence that Squealer gives them. Similar events would happen at the Soviet Union with the Politburo telling the people that everything was better. Throughout the book, the readers start to dislike the pigs because they realize that they are taking everything away from the other animals. This would be harder for the readers to feel these kinds of emotions when reading a nonfiction book or text about the Russian
