For the entirety of the novel, Squealer is known for his persuading speeches and wily personality to make the animals believe what he and the other pigs want them to with ease due to their inability to read or process information well. To expand upon, an implicit quote from Squealer explaining Snowball’s false alliance with Animal Farm recites, “Jones's shot only grazed him. I could show you this in his own writing, if you were able to read it. The plot was for Snowball, at the critical moment, to give the signal for flight and leave the field to the enemy” (Orwell 43). An examination of this quote clearly proves to the reader that the pigs know of the animals idiocy, and intend to use it against them for their own rankings. Additionally, one can infer that the pigs are lying about having a document with a negative connotation of Snowball, because if they do they will have already exposed the article. Undoubtedly, if all the animals have the same education majority of the lies being told will not be believed, meaning many events such as the demonization of Snowball will cease to exist. As seen many times throughout the novel, some of the animals begin to admit to false crimes that they did not commit. They do this due to the propaganda from the pigs, and cannot defend themselves against it because they do not know better. A quote from the novel states, “And so the tale of confessions and executions went on, until there was a pile of corpses lying before Napoleon's feet and the air was heavy with the smell of blood, which had been unknown there since the expulsion of Jones” (Orwell 56). An analysis of this quote makes one believe that truly, the pigs are killing many animals which will not take place if the animals understand what the pigs intentions are against them. To elaborate, the animals are “brainwashed” into thinking that they commit these crimes, while in reality the pigs are just killing off all the animals with any sense of doubt in their leadership. If the animals all acquire the same foundation of education, many animals will live instead of die because they will see through the pigs atrocities.
