Boxer is a loyal,strong horse who doesn’t question the leaders or government. He doesn’t complain, is constantly working, and is an optimist. “He had been a hard worker even in Jones’s time, but now he seemed more like three horses than one” (pg.29). On the other hand, Benjamin is a cynic,pessimistic donkey. He watches what is happening, but doesn’t get caught up in it. “Old Benjamin seemed quite unchanged since the rebellion” (pg.30). He believes nothing ever really changes. “Windmill or no windmill,he said, life would go on as it has always gone on-that is badly” (pg.51).
