Animal Farm: An Allegory For The Russian Revolution

“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” George Orwell was an English novelist, an essayist, a journalist, and a critic. George wrote Animal Farm to express the way Stalinism had misused the principles of the socialist revolution in the Soviet Union. In order to expose the seriousness of the dangers created by Stalinism and the totalitarian government he stated, "I thought of exposing the Soviet myth in a story that could be easily understood by almost anyone and which could be easily translated into other languages." Animal farm is an allegory for the russian revolution because this book was a way to get the word around about Stalinism in a way everybody can understand and every event that occurred in Animal Farm had already occurred in The Russian Revolution. Stalin created collectivism to increase food production however it decreased the food production which caused many people to die of hunger. The Communist Party also killed many people which made about 10 million people to die during collectivism. In the Russian Revolution Stalin rationed the population's food except for the Communist Party and in Animal Farm Napoleon rationed all of the animals food except for the pigs’. In the Russian Revolution Stalin forced labor on all of the people and in Animal Farm, Napoleon made the animals do hard work constantly.
