The “Ghost Bird’s” conflict is Person vs. society because on page 27, it says “I’m worried about the birds,” he finally answered “i’ve been trying to give this property to the state, but they don’t want it. When I die some developer is going to get ahold of the swamp, and fill it in with dirt, and build houses on it, and destroy the birds habitat” (Scholastic 27). Based on this evidence one can tell that the conflict of “The Ghost Bird” is Person vs. Society because Mr.Tanner is trying to keep his property safe from developers who want to fill in the swamp and build homes on it because it is a home to thousands of wild birds and other animals even the ivory-billed woodpecker which is extinct and filling in the swamp would mean destroying the wild animals habitats and the ivory-billed woodpeckers habitat making it go extinct. Unlike, The “Animal Distress calls” conflict is Person vs. Person because on page 26, it says “After my blowout with mom that morning” (Scholastic 26). Based on this evidence one can tell that the conflict of “Animal Distress calls” is Person vs. Person because the main character had a conflict with his mom and that a Person vs. Person conflict.
