Improved Essays
As of this moment, millions of animals are trapped in cages in laboratories all over the U.S. longing to be free. Animal testing is any scientific testing that animals are forced to undergo that causes pain and lasting harm to the animal (What is Animal Testing). Animals used in experiments are killed or kept in captivity: In animal testing, countless animals are experimented on and then killed after their use. Not only does animal testing not benefit the animal, but testing also is extremely expensive for humans to conduct. Furthermore, animals and humans are never exactly the same and they may react differently to different substances. Evidentially, many of the substances are not used for anything useful after the testing on an animal. Animal …show more content…
Overall, testing on animals for human health has many drawbacks and ill-fated wastes. As talked about previously, animal testing is very cruel, causes enormous amounts of pain, and unnecessarily kills many animals. Also, there can be some living alternatives for testing. It is believed that it is acceptable to abuse animals because their pain is not as important as human pain. This statement is very unethical and proves everything wrong in our world. No matter how beneficial testing on animals may be to humans and new medical findings, it is inhumane and wrong. Anyone who can just watch animals suffer and be tortured must not have a caring bone in their body. There are ways and alternatives to stop animal testing; however, people have to start caring. If there is another way to find a cure for illnesses instead of torturing animals, would people not side with that alternative? Alternatives to animal testing are known as vitro methods; such as, human cells and tissues (Collins). If these tests are used to benefit humans than it should be human cells scientists are testing on, not animals. Moreover, animal cruelty can be avoided and eliminated saving millions of suffering

The testing on animals is a very touchy subject. It makes people wonder whether or not its cruel to advance technology by killing innocent animals. Killing animals for testing has its benefits but it's still inhumane to do that to animals. It can destroy populations of animals if tested often and if every lab has its own supply of animals the populations will drop by extreme numbers. The animals that are tested on often get terrible treatment as the people testing on them know they will soon die.…

After studying multiple views on animal testing I have come to realize my personal view has now changed since the start of my research. Before undergoing heavy study into animal testing I believed that all types of animal testing should be stopped, but now I believe that the idea is very beneficial and should only be done when the rights of the animal are considered. In the coming years, hopefully, more regulations can be passed to ensure that all animal’s lives are protected during experimentation. Although most animals are treated with care and no pain is dealt to them when undergoing testing, it would be a lie if I stated no animals are harmed during the process. Animal testing is extremely useful in developing life-saving drugs and medicine.…

However, animal testing is torture because we do not allow animals the choice to be tested on or not. Companies like MAC or Mary Kay cosmetics should not test their makeup on animals because animals are not able to voice an opinion. When captured and awaiting for experimentation, we hold the hostages in cages.…

Though I concede that in some situations, animal testing may be useful, such as in immensely important medical studies, I still maintain that it is unnecessary to make an animal suffer and be discriminated against. Although some people may think that animal testing is healthy and beneficial to humans, I believe that animal testing is unethical and utterly wrong because of the unfair repulsive treatment that animals receive from scientists. This topic is important because the world we live in is as much an animal 's world as it is a human’s world and right now humans are discriminating and enslaving…

In discussion of animal rights, one controversial issue has been whether or not animals should be use for medical testing. On the one hand, some scientists argue that animal testing has contributed for many cures and treatments. On the other hand, animal rights activist contends that alternative methods now exist that can replace the need for animals.
