Animal Cruelty Persuasive Speech

Ladies and Gentleman of the jury, today I am here to refute my opponent, Space World, for the crimes they have committed. There is a difference between an exhibit of art and an exhibit of animal cruelty. And today I am here to bring forth very pertinent evidence to convince you that Space World has committed animal cruelty. They froze 5,000 fish under a skating rink, do you call that an exhibition of art?

All the evidence points to animal cruelty. They froze thousands fish under ice just for amusement. Let me ask you, does that not sound like cruelty? Would you like to be frozen under ice for the amusement of other people? I assume not. Freezing fish under ice for the amusement of humans is an insult to the fish’s lives, which proves my case

If this was not an act of cruelty would there have been such a backlash? I do not believe so. If this exhibit was good for animals wouldn’t people all over the world be praising it? The people of the world have spoken and they have decided that what Space World did was not right.

On Space World's’ own Facebook page they mocked the frozen fish by saying things like “I am d..d..drowning…It h…h..hurts.” This shows that Space World did not care about the treatment of the fish they froze. If they cared maybe they wouldn't have posted such a mocking post on Facebook. Space World was clearly very negligent and did not have good intentions with this exhibit and it should be taken it down along with them being fined.

Space World claims that they had planned a religious ceremony for the dead fish but after looking at the evidence I have provided you; do you believe that they actually cared about the fish? After the mocking Facebook post? I do not believe that Space World ever cared about the dead fish and that the ceremony was merely a publicity stunt to cover up for their atrocious actions. Space World also claimed that the fish were "not fit for human consumption" I believe the reason they bought this type of fish was purely because they did not have to pay as much money. This should show you that Space World cares more about money and their reputation rather than the lives of the thousands of

In this article it says, “the public has completely changed its opinion on exploiting and killing animals for entertainment.” In SeaWorld animals are being killed and parents are not ok with this. This is no longer fun and educational for their kids. SeaWorld has banned the use of the bullhook which is a tool that helps handle and train the elephants.…

Making a Splash: The Practice of Profiting from Whales Based on what we know today about the effects of holding and breeding whales in captivity for the sole purpose of making a profit, it is no longer acceptable in today’s society to allow this archaic practice to continue at places like SeaWorld under false pretenses. The release of the documentary “Blackfish” has raised questions on the treatment of Orca whales in particular, illustrating the inhumane conditions and treatment of these animals, which are exploited for their intelligence and used in performances for thousands of spectators annually. One of the most concerning indicators of this mistreatment has been the death of a number of the Orca trainers at SeaWorld in recent years. Taking…

Which then lead to the incident. In an article, i read the abstract just and it talked about how it wasn’t until t5his incident trainers swam and trained with the whales ( Benjamin Wallace, Seaworld Breached). While doing some research I found an article about Seaworld and what happens to killer whales there, that usually won’t happen. On average, an Orca’s life span is usually 30-50 years, while in captivity 15 years( 8 Reasons Orcas Don’t Belong at Seaworld, PETA). Like in the documentary it is talked about the collapsed dorsal fin, how that just a little indicator the it isn’t a healthy environment( Blackfish, killer whale expert scientist).…

At the end of the article "Truth About Blackfish" it is clear that they failed to change anyone 's mind about "Blackfish". Their strategy to lie and manipulate the truth to their readers did not work. As a result Sea World has damaged its own credibility and image to their readers. It is possible that "Blackfish" is manipulative with the footage sequences. However in the argument of whether or not Killer Whales are hurt by being in captivity "Blackfish" still makes the better…

Many American families believe that SeaWorld is the best family vacation spot with its many parks all over the country. A typical visit to SeaWorld includes petting dolphins, visiting the aquarium, and being splashed by a majestic Orca. While SeaWorld may seem family-friendly, it definitely is not animal friendly. The tourist attraction, also known as SeaWorld, tortures its animals by ripping them from their homes and families, placing them in pools that might as well be bathtubs. Although families enjoy taking a trip to SeaWorld, they would feel a lot differently if they knew about the constant pain and torture inflicted on SeaWorld’s animals.…

Animals kept in captivity has been a heated controversy throughout the decades. Whether wild animals should be kept in captivity to be able to protect them from various hazards, while others argue they are inhumane space limiting the freedom the animals deserve. For example SeaWorld Orlando released a film exposing the reality behind the scenes at SeaWorld, from the animal's living conditions to the animal's trainers. This brought attention to the public in 2010 and the subsequent release of the condemning documentary, Blackfish, in 2013 brought to light the treatment of the wild animals being kept in captivity and whether or not it is an ethical practice (Worrall, 2015). An Analysis of the Unethical and Unsafe Practice of Containing Animals in the Artificial Aquarium Environment In beginning, the ethical issues related to the containment of aquatic animals in for-profit aquariums will be examined in this study. Cowperthwaite’s film Blackfish (2014) illustrates the ethical issues of containing orca whales, at Sea world, which led to the death of a animal trainer in its training facilities. More importantly, the ethical issue of monetary profit from using orcas as these shows defines the unethical use of aquatic animals that may not be safe for performance purposes. These ethical issues are problematic for Sea world and other private for-profit organizations, which overlook the dangers of wild animals in order to make a profit.…
