Plants exposed to radiation can become a threat to the people they supply for. Without any technology that recognized hazardous waste in food, people were put at risk of contamination through consumption, even after the nuclear plants were treated.Other organisms including animals that consume from an affected area can die or produce mutated offsprings. These animals that were once also consumed by humans become inedible when contaminated, resulting many times in food shortage of both vegetation and meat. Other products, such as dairy, produced by the contaminated animals become scarce in the affected area. Many times after nuclear accidents water sources are also contaminated and the health of the aquatic animals become severely affected.
