Animals should be kept in captivity to preserve its species. In the article, Idaho Zoo Powers Preservation in Africa, Katherine Jones states, “Zoos and other partners are helping captive breeding and reintroduction programs for animals such as the nearly extinct black-footed ferret and the California condor.” (Jones) This suggests that not only are zoos holding them for entertainment, but also as an obligation to preserve their species for they are more endangered out in the wild than at a zoo. If the animals were to go extinct in the wild they would have the animals at the zoo to give birth to their own. Some may argue that there …show more content…
In the article, Animals Testing and Its Gifts to Humans, by Frankie L. Trull he mentions that, “Before human trials began, the re-engineered virus was injected into the brains of macaque monkeys, whose systems operate similarly to those of humans. Since the raw polio virus often results in paralysis, such testing of the modified virus made sense--and helped demonstrate that the body's immune system would cripple brain tumors if injected with the re-engineered virus.” (Trull) This reveals that animals are put through the effects of a certain virus in which scientists rigorously test out certain types of medicines that would prevent that disease. The result is what helps human life because it helps get medicine out to people. These medicines are reassured that they work or not through animals. Some may argue that animals should not be put through these experiments because they feel pain. However, animals are the only ones that are closest to us so they are the only ones that should have experiments conducted on them even though they feel pain it’s less of a loss to
