Animals Shouldn’t Be In Captivity To many people, animals are fascinating and intriguing to witness. Most wouldn’t want to hurt or abuse them in any way because they know it would be wrong. If only those people knew that every time they go to a zoo or aquarium, they are paying people to do just that. Animals don’t want to be torn away from their homes so they can be watched by civilians. They would likely much rather live in peace, away from humans, in the wild but because it benefits us humans, we take away that privilege from them. Although keeping animals in captivity can be used for research and entertainment, we need to limit how many animals of each species can be kept in captivity because many animals are being injured and getting ill due to captivity. In some zoos, aquariums, and marine parks they have area where you can interact with animals. For example, the National Aquarium in Baltimore has a set time where you can swim with the dolphins. This lets the people who come have a better experience there. This can give people the idea that since the animal they saw at the zoo was nice, that animal species is going to be nice in the wild. The exhibit that the animals are in can greatly affect their mental and physical health. Walking in circles for up to twelve hours a day is different from walking a few miles in one day for an elephant.
