The point of balance is the area behind the animals shoulder. If a handler moves into the flight zone from behind the point of balance, they move forward.
The handler’s bubble is much like the flight zone, and when a handler’s bubble hits the flight zone, the animal’s first instinct is to move away when pressure is applied.
Understanding these behaviors can help you reduce stress, reduce animal injury, and reduce risks to your personal safety.
Equipment you will need when sorting animals are: a red sort board, an aluminum hinge panel and shakers. These tools are provided to help aid with the movement of the animals and if used in an abusive manner, it will not be tolerated.
Proper set-up of the pathway is important to keeping the animals comfortable when moving them. Remove all distractions and try to eliminate shadows and 90 degree turns.
