It was about a week before summer break in 5th grade, and the sun's glowing rays shone on every tree and flower in sight. Despite the stunning nature of the outdoors, I was lounging in my bedroom, scanning through pictures of dogs on my iPad. I longed for a pet ever since I was five years old, but every time the concept of adopting one materialized, my mom's voice echoed in my head, saying "No Ashley, not a chance." However, I was not ready to abandon my dream, and my persistence remained tenacious. As I was looking at pictures of adoptable dogs, I came across one photo that stood out to me. The one that I was looking at was named Dolce, she was a black miniture poodle with a snowy white patch on her chest. She was in need of a home because she was left in front of a rescue center pregnant, and birthed three adorable puppies that had already found residences. Every time I looked at that picture, her big, alluring, chocolate-brown eyes looked directly into my …show more content…
I played fetch with her and when we were both tired, I sat on a wide armchair, and she she sprang up from the ground to sit on my lap. I listened carefully to what the woman was saying about Dolce. A rush of elation coursed through my veins as soon as I heard this response, and I hugged my mom and dad tightly and said "thank you so much." I sprinted toward my new dog and attached a leash to her collar. We both ran outside and I skipped down the sidewalk until I climbed into the car with Dolce to go home. I looked at her and said, "I feel you and me are going to become best friends
