Animal abuse in a serious issue in many parts of the world and many organizations are dedicated to prevent animal abuse. Over the past several years many laws have been passed to diminish the amounts of animals falling victim to these malicious acts. For example, if someone takes in several animals, but doesn’t look after all of their basic needs this is a form of neglect even though they think they are doing them good by giving them a home. Owners might also make a mistake of accidentally or unintentionally abusing the animal. They may forget to feed the animal or put it outside when it is too hot. Many owners also think that letting a dog stay in a doghouse or tied on a short chain is not animal abuse. An animal is abused every ten seconds in the United States (ASPCA). Animal cruelty includes a large range of behaviors towards animals, including neglect and brutal killings. Animal cruelty and human violence contain similar characteristics; both victims are living beings, feel pain, and can die from the abuse. Animal abuse cases have risen over the years and so have studies about childhood animal abuse as a gateway activity for later antisocial behavior. These antisocial behaviors include: heavy drug use, violent outburst, family cruelty, and murder.…

With that said, Convicted animal abusers should have stricter punishments in the United States. In many cases of animal cruelty the abusers are not punished at all, and if so it is only a misdemeanor offense. For example, three teenage boys, all under the age of 18, thought it would be fun one day to take three helpless puppies to the cemetery and burn them alive. “The terrified dogs squeal in agonizing pain as the boys hurl them into the flames and laugh as they film it on mobile phones.…

There are many anti-cruelty laws as well as animal welfare programs existing in all states and territories of the united states, and these laws prohibit torturing, beating, mutilating and unnecessary killing of an animal (Animal Abuse Statistics). Even though there are laws about animal abuse laws, people still hit them and mistreat them badly that sometimes leads to serious injuries or even death. I think that if shelters or adopting centers did a quick background check to look if they have had a charge for domestic violence or anything related to that, then there will be less animal abuse mistreats and reports. Also, they should make a law that prohibits the killing of an animal in a shelter or pound after being there for to long, because every living thing on this planet earth has the right to live. According to the article Animal Cruelty Facts and Statistics it says “Some state laws only allow felony charges if the perpetrator has a previous animal cruelty…

Even humans, on a biological level, are animals themselves. With that being stated, the main argument boils down ethics, with each and every person’s morals playing an important part. I, personally, am against animal abuse, so consequently I believe that this issue should be addressed more firmly by people, by the law, and by the world. I, as a pet owner think that animal cruelty is one of the most wicked things in the world. People with good intentions but ultimately neglect and abuse animals, I am more lenient to, because people who fall under this category generally cannot help the situation they are in, or just ignorant on the issue.…
