Anil John: A Short Story

I had this friend named Anil John, he passed away on October 6, 2015, from a car accident. I'd say he was about 6'6" and played on the basketball team. He wasn't one of those kids that thought he was all tough because he was on the basketball team. He was one of the nicest kids to ever walk the halls of Islip high school in my opinion. It is a tragedy that he passed away so young, but I know that I will never forget the memories I made with him. He might have been in the grade above me, but I still grew up with him. We were on the same bus from elementary school and high school. I didn't talk to him much in elementary school, but once we got to high school I would talk to him every day, he wasn't one of my friends who I would hang out with him outside of school, but that doesn't mean I don't consider him as one of my buddies. I sat in disbelief and thought how could something so awful happen to one of the nicest kids I know. For the next few days, the school was a mess kid, teachers, and another staff was crying, this is the type of kid he was he made everyone a better person. We had a moment of silence for him in our homeroom class at the end of the period and when the bell rang everyone got up and walked to the next class. I've never heard the halls of the school so silent; it was like I was the only person who was in the whole school. A few days later at the wake, the majority of the school and most of his grade was in attendance.
